G Pen Elite 2 Review
Elite 2 may be my new favorite vaporizer
G Pen has been on my radar for quite some time now as I have several friends that use their devices. Then, earlier this year, one of my friends upgraded their primary vaping device (most of us have several that we use interchangeably) to the Elite 2 and literally won’t stop talking about how amazing it is.
In an effort to shut them up (ok, I may have also been a tad curious), I contacted Grenco Science to see if they’d be happy for me to conduct a full G Pen Elite 2 review. I warned them that I review honestly, showcasing the good, the bad, and the ugly, and I’m pleased to report that it didn’t scare them off as they said yes!
So, after putting it to the test, this is what I found…
The G Pen Elite 2 exudes quality, managing to find the perfect balance between form, function, and features. It ticks all the boxes when it comes to the things I look for in a ground herb vaping device by being easy to use, easy to clean, heating up quickly, and by being super portable, and it’s a great looking device to boot.
Add to that it’s high quality build, isolated airpath, dual heating process, and customizable session timers, and you have yourself an incredibly advanced yet affordable dry herb vaporizer.

The complete G Pen Elite 2 review
The Grenco Science G Pen Elite 2 was officially released in February last year as an upgrade to the original (and incredibly successful) G Pen Elite. Launched back in 2016, the G Pen Elite always stood out from the crowd as one of the most sleek, modern portable vaporizers on the market, but over the years the competition has come a long way in catching them up, in terms of size and features.
In celebration of Grenco Science’s 10th year of innovating the vaping industry, the Elite 2 promises to be their best dry herb vape yet.
Who is this product for?
This vape will be great for anyone looking for a super portable vaping device with speedy heating and advanced features, and if you’re on a budget but want the best that money can buy then you’ll be impressed with this device’s mid-range price point and two-year warranty.
This vape is also going to be adored by all G Pen lovers everywhere, especially those who previously owned the G Pen Elite, as this device retains the same stylish exterior of the Elite, but has had some serious upgrades underneath its sleek housing.
The ease of use offered by the device also makes it an ideal choice for hemp and cannabis flower lovers that are new to vaping, but are looking to take their flavor experience to the next level.
I wouldn’t recommend this device to people that prefer to smoke concentrates as this device is designed for use with cannabis, CBD flower and THCa flower only. It isn’t compatible with concentrates, such as CBD wax or crumble. It also might not put out enough vapor for particularly heavy vapers.
What’s in the box?
- G Pen Elite 2 vaporizer
- G Pen Elite 2 silicone sleeve
- USB to USB-C charging cable
- Hemp travel case

Overview of features
Let’s take a closer look at the key features of the Elite 2 to see where it stands out from the competition, as well as where it could be improved.
1. Attractive, smell-proof carry-case
The first thing I liked about the G Pen was actually the case that it comes in. It’s a very attractive, high-quality, zip-up hardcase which is made out of hemp (and we love hemp). Apparently this is a standard case that is offered with all G Pen devices, which is pretty impressive in itself.
The device itself sits snugly inside a foam insert on one side to keep it safe from jolts and bangs and then the charging cable slips into a stretchy pocket on the opposite side. You could easily keep a stash of weed in here too.
The case fits nicely in your pocket, but it doesn’t leave much room for anything else. There is also a little strap on the side, meaning you could hang it off your belt loop or off the side of your bag, which is handy and space-saving.
2. Sleek ergonomic design
Once I had the travel case open, the device itself didn’t disappoint in the looks department either. The device itself is very small and portable, so it will fit in even a small pocket very easily, if you didn’t take the case out with you.
The ergonomic design means that it is very comfortable to hold and use. The device seems to intuitively fall into the best spot in your hand to be cradled with minimal effort. Plus the design itself is minimal, which is great as it means that the device is very discreet and easy to use.
The tactile buttons on the side of the device are exactly where you’d want them to be for ease of use and the screen is easy to read. The mouthpiece that sits on top of the device is simple and comfortable to use, but it doesn’t have a cap, so you’ll want to make sure you have clean pockets or make use of the travel case to help keep the mouthpiece clean and hygienic.
3. Premium quality build and two-year warranty
Everything about this device exudes quality, from the premium materials used in the construction to the thoughtful design, including an isolated airpath which keeps the heat away from any of the mechanical parts, protecting your device for years to come.
The Elite 2’s body is made from zinc alloy which gives it a nice weight, making it feel solid and durable in your palm.
Plus, their two-year warranty (extended to three years if you register your device online) only goes to show up how well made the Elite 2 is. The company know that it’s built to last and stand by this by keeping your device covered for any manufacturer defects within the first few years of use.
4. Built-in pokey tool
It seems like such a small thing, but I love the fact that this vaporizer has a built-in, onboard pokey tool (aka a pick tool or packing tool). I use a pokey tool at some point during (almost) every single vaping session and am usually always having to root around for pens, pencils, hair clips, etc. Not anymore!
You might be surprised, but this one, seemingly-tiny feature always impresses people. But that’s not even scraping the surface of impressive features this dry herb vape boasts
5. Fast, dual heating ceramic chamber
I feel like the dual heating aspect of the Elite 2 will steal the show for most people, especially with the more advanced vapers out there. You may have come across hybrid heating before, where the device uses both forms of heating simultaneously, but this dual heating option is a new one, even to me.
The Elite 2 makes use of both convection and conduction heating, but it does so in a way that can make the device work on either, independently of the other.
The standard setting will heat up the chamber with conduction heating and then use draw-activated (very fancy) convection heating to pull hot air through the herb on every inhale. But you can also switch this off and vape off the conduction heating alone, without the convection boost.
This is a handy feature to have to make your battery last a bit longer if needed when you’re out and about. I really like the ceramic heating chamber too, because it heats really evenly and won’t burn your flower like a metal chamber might at higher temperature settings.
6. Customizable session timers
Another sought-after feature that the Elite 2 offers is customizable session timers. Everyone has their favorite vaping temperature and you can program this into the device, along with how long your average session is, to truly personalize your dry herb vape to your preferred settings.
7. Protective silicone sleeve
As you can imagine, this speedy, dual heating tech can make small dry herb vaporizers like this very pretty hot, pretty quickly, so you’ll almost certainly want to make use of the silicone sleeve that comes with the device.
I prefer the way the device looks without it, but the sleeve goes a long way in helping to dissipate the heat and adds an anti-slip element to the design which helps keep it safe.
8. Three-part, magnetic zirconia mouthpiece
Alongside the dual heating ceramic chamber, the three-part zirconia mouthpiece is another feature that’s sure to impress advanced vapers out there.
Firstly, the zirconia construction ensures that the mouthpiece doesn’t get too warm and burn your lips. Not only is zirconia heat-resistant, but It’s also extremely durable, so it’s not going to chip or crack easily.
Then, inside the zirconia shell, you’ll find a silicone sleeve which houses a screen to filter particles, protects the zirconia helix, and also helps keep the heat off the outer shell. The zirconia helix that’s inside the silicone sleeve is designed to lengthen the vapor path, delivering the purest and coolest vapor possible.
9.Decent battery and convenient charging
I found that the Elite 2 can fully charge in around an hour and twenty minutes. At full charge, this 2100mAh lithium-ion battery will last for around an hour of continuous use. It’s not the most impressive battery life , and this battery is actually a tad smaller than the one found in the OG Elite (which featured a 2200mAh), but it’s still a fantastic battery size and life for a device this portable.
I know one or two devices that have better battery life, but they are clunkier and nowhere near as stylish and portable as the Elite 2.
The unit also charges with a universally available USB-C cable, which I really love. These cables are everywhere these days and rather than going with a proprietary cable (which would probably make Grenco Science more money over the years as people would have to buy new and spare cables from them), Grenco Science have chosen a far more accessible and user-friendly option.
I appreciate that, a lot.
10. Fast heating and thick, flavorful vapor clouds
I’m pleased to report that you get both great flavor and great vapor from the Elite 2.
The Elite 2 holds a steady temperature anywhere between 200F to 430F and it can heat up to its maximum temperature in around 30 seconds. I found the first couple of puffs to be pretty weak, like they are with all dry herb vapes, but by the third puff the Elite 2 is producing some very satisfying vapor clouds (learn how to get the most out of the Elite 2’s precise temperature controls by checking out the best temperature to vape CBD oil and flower here).
OK, they’re not the biggest vapor clouds possible, but they are pretty damn great clouds for such a tiny device like this is. If you’re a heavy user and are after the biggest vapor production, you should stick to desktop vaporizers. For a portable vape, however, it doesn’t get much better than this and it’s certainly plenty thick enough for me!
11. Easy to use, easy to clean
Finally, this device is dead simple to use and, with the chamber located just under the magnetic mouthpiece on the top, it’s easy to clean too.
I find that the device stays pretty clean if you make sure to empty the chamber properly in between sessions and then I take it apart and deep clean it every week or so, depending on how much I’ve been using it.
Is it worth the money?
Hell, yeah! Having already used the device, I was really shocked to see the $249 price tag . From experience, based on the size and speed of this device, vapor quality produced, and tons of cool features, I’d have expected the Elite 2 to be priced around the $300-$350 mark (roughly where the Mighty+ is priced at if I’m honest).
Advanced vapers will be impressed at the vapor production and advanced features offered at such an affordable price.
How to use the G Pen Elite 2
The G Pen Elite 2 is incredibly easy to operate thanks to its full color OLED screen and three button control. You can turn the device on by holding down the power button for three seconds and then control the temperature by pressing the – and + buttons which are on the side of the device.
Once you have chosen your desired temperature, just press the power button twice to start heating. Haptic feedback will tell you when the unit has reached the required temperature and it has an auto shutoff feature that kicks in after five minutes of inactivity.
You can also control screen brightness, vibration strength, plus switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit using the OLED screen, by pressing the power button five times, in quick succession.
Conclusion
I’m sold.
